2025 Wedding Trends: What This Photographer Thinks

The wedding industry is constantly evolving, and 2025 is shaping up to be a year of bold, personalized, and (more) sustainable celebrations. From stunning decor to unforgettable experiences, couples are embracing new trends that reflect their unique love stories. Let's dive into some wedding trends of the year!

Decor: A Visual Feast

Gone are the days of cookie-cutter wedding decor. In 2025, couples are opting for designs that are both visually striking and personally meaningful.

  • Minimalist Elegance: Less is definitely more when it comes to this trend. Clean lines, neutral colors, and a focus on quality over quantity create a sophisticated and timeless atmosphere. Think: minimalist ceremony space with a single, statement floral arrangement and modern seating.

  • Maximalist Magic: For those who love a touch of drama (me), maximalist decor is a dream come true. Think opulent floral arrangements, cascading chandeliers, and rich velvet accents. This trend is perfect for couples who want to create a moody ambiance.

  • Nature's Bounty: Incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables into your decor is a fresh and unexpected way to add color and texture to your wedding. Imagine stunning centerpieces featuring vibrant tomatoes, juicy citrus fruits, or lush greenery. This trend not only looks beautiful but also pays homage to the natural world. I’m a tomato girl for life!

  • Luxurious Color Palettes: Deeper, richer tones are taking center stage in 2025. Think emerald green, sapphire blue, and deep burgundy. These colors create a sense of luxury and sophistication when paired with metallic accents like gold or silver. Again, MOODY!

  • Industrial Chic with a Twist: While industrial-style venues are still popular, couples are adding their own unique spin to this trend. Incorporate natural elements like greenery or wood to soften the space, or add pops of color with bold floral arrangements.

  • Rustic Romance, Reimagined: The rustic trend is evolving, with couples opting for a more refined and elegant approach. Think forest-inspired decor, sleek wooden accents, and earthy color palettes.

Experiences Over Everything

Weddings are no longer just about the ceremony and reception; they're about creating lasting memories for both the couple and their guests.

  • Multi-Day Celebrations: Extend the festivities with a multi-day wedding weekend filled with fun activities and quality time with loved ones. Imagine a welcome party, rehearsal dinner, and brunch to complement your main event. And, best part? It doesn’t have to be at a resort! It can be a potluck at home or your favorite taco place and dive bar.

  • Intimate Moments: Smaller, more intimate gatherings are still gaining popularity. Want to add another layer of “just the two of us”? A private cake-cutting is a perfect example of creating a special moment just for the two of you. Obviously you’ll have me there…

  • Nostalgia with a Twist: The resurgence of 80s and 90s cake trends is one of my favorite nods to the past. Incorporating vintage elements, like your parents' wedding topper, adds a personal touch to your celebration. As you probably know by now, nostalgia plays a MASSIVE part in my work. So of course I’m a huuuuge fan of this.

  • Interactive Experiences: Keep your guests entertained with interactive elements like photo booths, live music, or DIY craft stations. These activities encourage engagement and create a fun atmosphere. With DIY craft stations, they can take home an ornament they made or you can have them make YOU gifts! It’s fun either way.

Attire: Expressing Your Individuality

Wedding attire is becoming increasingly inclusive and expressive. Couples are choosing outfits that reflect their personal style and identity.

  • Gender-Neutral Elegance: Whether it's a classic suit, a flowing gown, or something entirely unique, couples are opting for attire that feels authentic and comfortable to THEM.

  • Bridal Evolution: Traditional bridal wear continues to evolve with a focus on comfort, versatility, and personal style. Convertible dresses, off-the-shoulder styles, and romantic aesthetics are popular choices. Fresh, dewy skin and soft, natural makeup create a timeless and effortlessly chic bridal look.

  • Groom's Style: Grooms are embracing a wider range of options, from classic suits to modern tuxedos and even more casual looks.

A Focus on Well-being and Sustainability

Weddings are a celebration of love, but they should also be a celebration of life. Couples are (thank goodness) increasingly prioritizing mental health and sustainability in their wedding planning.

  • Mindful Planning: Take breaks, delegate tasks, and prioritize self-care throughout the planning process.

  • Eco-Friendly Choices: Incorporate sustainable elements into your wedding, from eco-friendly decor to plant-based menus.

  • Personalized Experiences: By focusing on what truly matters to you and your partner, you can create a wedding that is both meaningful and stress-free.

These are just a few of the wedding trends coming our way in 2025. I’m a big fan of all of them, and would LOVE to be the photographer for this major chapter in your love story.
